Month of Cake
/How bad does it sound to admit that I forgot to write a birthday blog for my daughter?! But here I am doing just that.
Including Logan’s birthday at the end of January, we celebrate four in four and a half weeks! That’s a lot of cake!
So we’ll go in order, starting with Sophia who turned 9 a couple weeks ago. This sweet girl is tiny, yet fierce! She has always lived life with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. She changed our lives when she showed up and pink exploded around the house full of boys, and she continues to change us and challenge us with developments and delays, Princess dresses and muddy boots, and make-believe that can leave us in stitches or scratching our heads!
A couple days after her birthday was mine….somehow, I turned 46, even though my mind wants to convince me I’m just 30 something. 46! What the world!?! A few life markers post 30: I’ve had my pacemaker 16 years; been married almost 14 years; earned my Masters; been a mom for 12.5 years; adopted 4, birthed 1; authored 2 books, said goodbye to my Gram; created a small business; and been plucked from my former comfort zone and given a new one….one I’m sure the Lord will move me beyond someday. He’s awesome like that! I intend to continue to say yes to Him and hope to have my third book published later this year! #goals
And finally, our sweet Mason, who just turned 12. He is a hard one to tell about. He’s always been the ‘quiet one’, the easy going son, which is still true today, but now I see his wheels are constantly turning. He laughs at his own thoughts sometimes, he sees when I need a hug, he won’t tell you he’s having a hard time, but will hug you tight if you ask if he’s ok. He’ll never push for attention or speak for the sake of hearing his own voice; but if you have his love, you have the gift of his authentic self. He was, and always will be our baby May May.
And so we have concluded the month of birthday cakes and will be going on a sugar detox!
Haply February y’all!
Jules
